SIGHT ACCLIMATION FOR NEW AND
EXPERIENCED SHOOTERS

Many shooters find that the clarity of the sight picture with the ATS lends to shooting with both eyes open. However, whether you shoot with one eye or two eyes open, one should at first spend a little time visualizing the sight picture with closed eyes, as a way of familiarizing yourself with the ATS sight picture. On your first outing with the ATS, shoot slowly at first, no more than one shot per every two seconds.

You may increase your shooting speed as you become more familiar with the advantages of your new sight. Pay attention to the movement of the front sight as it relates to the rear sight during rapid fire shooting sessions, and then adjust your shooting technique accordingly.

The precise, error free sight alignment of the ATS creates for the shooter a shot-by-shot information feedback system. The ATS itself becomes a learning tool for enhancement of shooting skills. After an initial learning curve, many shooters report an improvement in their shooting skills, beyond their former abilities with traditional iron sights. As practice continues, the tendency to see the rear sight peripherally or subconsciously increases.

The need for precise sight alignment, especially at close to moderate distances will diminish, as your eyes become more front sight oriented. Longer distanced targets may also be hit more precisely.
